Excellence Gateway

All short-listed nominees and their nominators were invited to one of three regional events in Leeds, Birmingham and London. Guests were treated to a special lunch and had the opportunity to share their experiences of working in FE. Nominees were then presented with a certificate to mark their achievement. Details of the events are as follows:

	7 October 2009 Leeds Town Hall, The Headrow, Leeds, LS1 3AD The STARs of further education from the north gathered at Leeds Town Hall to celebrate being short-listed for the LSIS STAR Awards. The event was hosted by Sharuna Sagar; presenter and reporter for BBC Look North. View event gallery
	8 October 2009 The Council House, The Banqueting Suite, Council House 1st Floor, Victoria Square, Birmingham, B1 1BB In the heart of Birmingham city centre, the Council House is a beautiful Grade II listed building. Short-listed nominees were treated to a special lunch before being presented with their certificate by Louisa James from ITV Central News. View event gallery
	9 October 2009 The Gibson Hall, 13 Bishopsgate, London, EC2N 3BA Alice Bhandhukravi presenter and reporter for BBC London News hosted the southern short list event at The Gibson Hall. Delegates were treated to entertainment by local learners from Westminster Kingsway College before receiving their certificates. View event gallery
