The 2009 STAR Awards short-listed nominees come from a variety of workplaces and cover a range of skill levels and job roles, from the most junior to the most senior. They exemplify the breadth and diversity of the sector and are individuals who have worked above and beyond the call of duty, truly exceeding expectations. These people provide the skills needed to develop our workforce and drive our economic success nationwide.
Dr David Collins, chief executive of the Learning and Skills Improvement Service said:

They are providing the skills that our learners need to help them achieve their full potential and drive our economic success. They should, rightly, feel valued to have been identified as ‘STARs’.
